Awra Briguela received the backing of her university’s student council after she encountered gender discrimination for wearing the school uniform for females when she began her education at the University of the East (UE).
On Monday, Oct. 7, Briguela re-shared the student council’s official statement on the backlash she received from the public for her choice of school uniform.

It is important to note that UE is committed to fostering an inclusive atmosphere where LGBTQIA+ members are respected,” read in part of the statement.

She added a prayer emoji and a red heart in her caption.
One week ago, the young actress-comedian shared a video of herself on Instagram as she showed off her new uniform. In the comments section of her post, netizens expressed their various reactions.

Briguela also affirmed in an interview that she’s in a “better state” now after owning up to the consequences of her previous actions.
