The world number 219 became the first Lebanese player - male or female - to win a grand slam main-draw match during the Open Era.

In the first match, Haryana thrashed Rajasthan 6-1. Rohit Rana (2nd minute), Sunil Maan (11th), Sahil Ruhal (17th) and Ami Khasa (60th) scored one goal each, while Navraj Singh (7th, 37th) struck a brace for Haryana.

The first match of the final round of group matches took place between Korea and Malaysia and resulted in a 3-3 draw. The splitting of points confirmed Korea's qualification to the semifinal. The draw also ensured that Pakistan would finish second in the group regardless of their result in their last group match against India.

Habib, who won three qualifying matches to book his place in the main draw, delighted the fans on court 13 as he defeated China's Bu Yunchaokete in straight sets.

    The 26-year-old held up a Lebanese flag after prevailing 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 7-6 (8-6), setting up a second-round clash with 14th seed Ugo Humbert.

"This is probably one of the best days of my career, honestly," Habib told reporters during his post-match press conference.
