ANTIPOLO CITY—PLDT used a late-game rally to cruise to a second consecutive win in the PVL All-Filipino Conference after sweeping Galeries Tower, 27-25, 25-22, 25-23, Tuesday night at Ynares Center here.
The High Speed Hitters once again turned to the returning Savi Davison who came up with a game-high 28 points built on 26 attacks and two blocks for PLDT’s second consecutive win in as many games.
Article continues after this advertisementAfter dominating the first two sets, the Highrisers attempted to force a fourth set with a 15-21 lead before PLDT woke up to erase the deficit with a 10-2 run and complete the scrubbing.

“We shouldn’t have let it get to that point where they could catch up, even though we controlled the start. The reminder to the team, like in the game against Nxled, is that just because we’re up 2-0 doesn’t mean we can relax,” said coach Rald Ricafort, referring to the Chameleons who managed to extend that previous match before PLDT secured the win.
Article continues after this advertisement“It wasn’t intentional, but maybe they became too relaxed, leading to those runs. We’re happy we still got the win, but hopefully, we can find ways to avoid that next time,” Ricafort added.

Article continues after this advertisementErika Santos contributed 14 points on 12 attacks, a block and an ace. Majoy Baron added six points, four of which from four blocks. Captain Kath Arado caught 15 excellent digs while rookie Angelica Alcantara distributed 15 excellent sets.
Galeries Tower absorbed a third consecutive loss even with France Ronquillo’s 19 points, all but one from kills. Jho Maraguinot debuted with 10 points.
