ILOILO CITY – The city council here on Wednesday, Nov. 20, approved a P4.1-billion budget for 2025.

Next year’s budget is 14.83 percent higher than this year’s P3.6 billion.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, who has been on medical leave since late September, welcomed the city council’s swift approval of next year’s budget, saying that it will help the city government avoid delays.

“This landmark decision reflects the dedication and collaboration of our city council and all stakeholders in prioritizing the needs of our beloved Ilonggos,” the mayor said.

“With this early approval, we can now proceed with early procurement processes, ensuring that projects and programs slated for 2025 can commence on time and deliver timely services to the public. This proactive approach allows us to avoid delays, enhance efficiency, and maximize the impact of government spending for the benefit of our constituents,” he added.
